It's funny. It really is. Last night I was in the Nordenwatch scenario fighting the Order off the beaches as is only fit for a git. Once the two parties are almost full I have a macro I like to use and I got a fiery flaming for doing so*. Actually it's two, but they're about the same, so... ehh, nevermind. I'll try to redo them from memory.Macro numero uno:
/sc Hi guys. I just have a few tips - use them or ignore them.
/sc OFFENSE: Check the scoreboard regularly for their top healers and dps - and kill 'em! This way we can focus fire without having to call the targets all the time. Also, don't attack the tanks - just try to root and snare them.
Macro numero dos:
/sc Dammit, there's more from that moron!
/sc DEFENSE: Remember Collision Detection. If you get a tank/melee dps on your ass run towards a mob of friendlies. He can't run through them and chances are they'll help you root/snare/kill him. And if he changes targets it'll take him even longer to get a kill. If you run you can't be healed and we can't help you. Detaunt, root, snare, knockback and head to the rest of us. And help each other! :)
The above apparently was newbie stuff according to a swearing teamplayer. I guess it is, but the funny thing is that no-one in that pug knew how to focus fire, to use knockbacks to save teammates or not to run away when the tank tries to help you. So, I guess my question is: Would this really pester your game experience or do you think it'll actually help foster some teamwork? And is there anything about them that you would add or remove? Any easy to use tips?
*) I only use the macro once. No spamming.

I can't count the number of times where saying just about ANYTHING at the start of a scenario (especially lower tier ones) will make a huge difference. Saying something useful is even better.
What you said may be common knowledge, but actually... it isn't. Especially in T1. There are a lot of players new to RvR and focus fire, using knockbacks, peeling bad guys off you by running through your own side, etc... we're not born knowing that stuff.
Just saying "fight by the flags! Holding the fort is more important than getting the barracks!" (I'm Order ;)) can win a scenario. When people know what actions they can take to be helpful, they take those actions. Shocking, isn't it.
So ignore the asshats. They were just pissed they hadn't thought of it themselves... or they're 14 and absolutely cannot stand being told what to do by anyone, even if it's not binding and especially if it makes sense. Ah, teenagers. Love em. Especially with ketchup.
Exactly. I've still to see the tier four scenarios, and have almost only been playing Mourkain Temple and Tor Anroc (as everyone else I guess). I'd love to have someone direct me when I do set foot in some of the other ones.
I prefer mine with mustard, but each to his own I guess :)
I wouldn't respond to it. Life is too short to get into pointless arguments in the middle of a scenario, but I would find it a bit patronising.
As a healer, would you appreciate an RDPS class such as myself macroing a little guide on my opinions of how to heal at the beginning of every scenario? If you would find that slightly irritating, then turn it around
@Arkenor: Thanks for giving your input. I can see your point about it being slightly patronising - it's not intentionally though.
About RDPS giving me healing/tanking advice. I'd actually wouldn't mind. It would depend upon the manner the advice was given, though. The "omfg, why dont you heal me, nub" response from a triggerhappy sorceress that's obviously not using his/her detaunts etc. would be ignored. "Omfg, why don't you heal the ball carrier, nub" would be annoying, but mostly because they'd be both right and rude. A "try not to waste heal on people who are dead anyway and save what you can. Focus on high kill/dam dps and the tanks, mate" would be even more appriciated.
And if I'm new to a scenario/open rvr I'd love to have someone tell me what to do - dps/heal/tank. If I'd played the scenario untill my fingers went numb, I'd hopefully know it by then, and could ignore the chat. I'd still find it useful teamwise, though.
I disagree with you, Arkenor, but I do see the point your bringing. I have a question though, would you direct players when the scenario is going that are not playing it "right"? I mean, would you give advice in /sc or in a tell to players who are not playing to their class potential?
